Non magnetic drill collars, also known as non-magnetic drill collars, anti-magnetic drill collars or C-type drill collars, are called Non-magnetic Drill Collars (NMDC) in English. It is a low-carbon, high-chromium-manganese alloy steel drill collar, which is refined and forged after strict chemical composition ratio. This special alloy composition gives non-magnetic drill collars good low magnetic permeability, high-strength mechanical properties. Excellent intergranular corrosion cracking resistance and excellent wear resistance.

Working principle of non-magnetic drill collars

During the oil drilling process, due to the presence of various magnetic minerals underground, ordinary drill collars are easily subject to magnetic interference, thus affecting the accuracy and safety of drilling operations. Non magnetic drill collars can effectively avoid this interference. The interfering magnetic field lines above and below have no effect on the measuring instrument parts, creating a non-magnetic environment for magnetic measuring instruments, ensuring that the data detected by magnetic measuring instruments are real geomagnetic field information.

Application scenarios of non-magnetic drill collars in oil drilling

• 1. Directional drilling: In directional drilling operations, customizing non magnetic drill collars used for deep well operations are often using to measure the well inclination angle. And well inclination azimuth using a compass inclinometer inside the drill tool. Its length depends on the well inclination angle, well inclination azimuth and the geographical location of the drilling.
